In the summer of 2005 and 2006 the staff of the drop-in-centre have given training to local municipality police who patrol the market areas where the child work. Training has focused on:
- Explaining the reasons why children work.
- The hazards working children face.
- Child rights.
- Good ways to interact with these children.
During the summer of 2006 some of the working boys who use the drop-in-centre worked to produce some drama skits showing other working boys:
- The importance of attending school.
- The dangers of smoking.
- The consequences of stealing.
Discussions with Mullahs
In the summer of 2006 and 2007 the staff of the drop-in-centre entered into discussions with Mullahs from across the city. The purpose of the discussions was to help the Mullahs understand the problems working children face, the reasons they work and how the risks of their working can be reduced. The importance of education was also stressed.
In 2006, 27 Mullahs attended and in 2007, 41 came.
